LONDRES, 15 mai 2025 (SIWEL) – Communiqué de la coordination MAK-Royaume-Uni qui se félicite du verdict rendu par la justice française en faveur du militant kabyle indépendantiste Aksel Bellabbaci en refusant son extradition réclamée par le régime algérien :
La coordination MAK-UK se félicite de la décision rendue ce jour par la cour d’appel de Paris, qui a rejeté la demande d’extradition d’Aksel Bellabbaci, haut responsable du Mouvement pour l’autodétermination de la Kabylie (MAK) et conseiller du Président Ferhat Mehenni. Cette décision confirme le caractère strictement politique des accusations portées par le régime algérien contre les militants kabyles.
La justice française a reconnu le vide du dossier présenté par Alger et a mis fin à une procédure que beaucoup considéraient comme une tentative d’intimidation orchestrée par un État autoritaire. M. Bellabbaci, qui vit en France depuis 2012, est accusé en Algérie d’actes « terroristes » infondés, risquant la peine de mort dans un pays où les garanties judiciaires sont inexistantes.
L’avocat de M. Bellabbaci, Me Gilles-William Goldnadel, a salué « un beau jour pour la justice française » et rappelé qu’« il n’y a pas de justice en Algérie tant que la dictature y règne ».
Pour la coordination MAK-UK, cette décision est une victoire :
– pour Aksel Bellabbaci, victime d’un acharnement politique,
– pour le MAK et l’Anavad, dont les luttes sont légitimes et pacifiques,
– pour la Kabylie toute entière, qui subit une répression systématique.
Nous rappelons que 38 militants kabyles ont été condamnés à mort en Algérie sur des motifs similaires. L’affaire Bellabbaci symbolise l’injustice que subissent tous les défenseurs de la liberté en Kabylie.
La coordination MAK-UK reste pleinement mobilisée et appelle la diaspora à poursuivre ses efforts de sensibilisation auprès des autorités britanniques, européennes et internationales.

Kabylia Judicial Victory: France Rejects Algeria’s Extradition Request for Kabyle Activist Aksel Bellabbaci
The MAK-UK Coordination warmly welcomes the decision of the Paris Court of Appeal to deny the extradition of Aksel Bellabbaci, senior official of the Movement for the Self-Determination of Kabylia (MAK) and advisor to President Ferhat Mehenni. This judgment confirms the purely political nature of the accusations made by the Algerian regime against Kabyle activists.
French justice acknowledged the emptiness of the Algerian case and ended a procedure widely perceived as a politically motivated intimidation attempt by an authoritarian state. Mr. Bellabbaci, who has lived in France since 2012, faced baseless charges of « terrorism » in Algeria and risked the death penalty in a country lacking fair trial guarantees.
His lawyer, Gilles-William Goldnadel, hailed the ruling as « a great day for French justice » and declared: « There is no justice in Algeria as long as dictatorship continues to oppress its people. »
For the MAK-UK Coordination, this is a triple victory:
– for Aksel Bellabbaci, a victim of political persecution,
– for MAK and the Anavad, whose struggle is peaceful and legitimate,
– and for the people of Kabylia, who endure systematic repression.
We remind the international community that 38 Kabyle activists have been sentenced to death in Algeria on similar charges. The Bellabbaci case is emblematic of the injustices faced by defenders of freedom in Kabylia.
The MAK-UK Coordination remains fully engaged and urges the Kabyle diaspora to intensify advocacy efforts with British, European, and international institutions.
